A Bruce Lee style docu-epic shot in the housing projects of the Lower East Side. The story revolves around the real and imaginary rivals of an idealistic martial arts school led in actual life by the star of the flick, Nathan Ingram. Ahearn's first Super-8 feature is an early fusion of the ghetto kung fu culture and what was to become hip hop.
Before transgressive poseurs overran the scene, this "No Wave" feature from writer-director Charlie Ahearn was one of NYC's earliest, most entertaining blasts of underground, do-it-yourself filmmaking. It's raw, unpretentious and also delivers loads of badass craziness on a food-stamp-level budget.
